All About You

My sister in law Sarita passed away on Friday, after a year and a half battle with cancer. Today was her funeral. It was one of the hardest days I have ever had. My heart is broken, not only for Sarita, who will miss watching her three children grow up. But also for my brother and the children that now must figure out a way to carry on after they have lost their center.

Sarita was amazing. After the funeral we stopped and got at fountain pop in her honor. She loved M&H fountain pop.

Here is a little post my sister wrote about Sarita, she says it better then I ever could:

Yesterday, my sister-in-law, Sarita, was laid to rest, just one day shy of her 40th birthday. Today I honor her in the best way I know how, with a story. A love story.

It was over eighteen years ago that Sarita became a member of the our family. It may not have been official at the time, but we all knew immediately that my brother, Dustin, had met his match, his soul mate, the person who would love him unconditionally and would put him in his place when he needed it (and we all know Sarita was never afraid to put him in his place!).

As their family grew, their love grew stronger. While others sought happiness in material possessions, Sarita knew her true happiness came from the love of her husband and their three children, and the life they had created. She spoke of how lucky she was to have married her best friend and to have three great kids – everything she had ever wanted.

While I always knew their love was strong, it wasn’t until Sarita was diagnosed with cancer that I was truly able to understand how deep their love was. Seeing Dustin by her side every chance he could be, even if that meant driving hundreds of miles on little to no sleep, to care for her, support her, and just to be by her side. He was there every step of the way, always putting her best interests first, even when the decisions were difficult ones to make, right up until the very end.

In her final days, Sarita’s biggest fear was that her children would forget her. When I look at each of them – Chance’s caring and compassionate nature, Caid’s determination and tender heart, and Chloe, our little mini-Sarita – it would be impossible for them to ever forget her, as she is a part of them and always will be. She has molded them into the people they are yet to become, and she will live on through them.

While her time with us was cut short, her life was full. It was full of joy, it was full of laughter, and most of all it was full of love. And that is a life well-lived.

Damages

The neighbor's garage is gone and his house will need some work. Our garage has some damage on the side and front.

How much is too much?

Just when you think things can't get worse, something happens that shows they can.

The smell of smoke woke me up at 5:07 am. The neighbor's garage was ablaze. I called 911 as I was yelling and getting everyone up and dressed in case we needed to leave.

The 911 operator told us to stay inside unless the firemen came to get us. It was so smokey and raining fire embers it was crazy.

Thankfully the neighbor and his dogs were safe and the only damage we have is to our garage.

That and our house stinks like smoke. Yuck.

Lights out

Our lights went out. Not sure what happened but they will be out until after 10 pm. Camden doing shadow puppets on the ceiling. Doesn't photograph well. Haha

Polka dot, polka dot, polka dot

I sewed new fleece liners for the rabbits cage. I love the material and Hip Hop loves it too.
